Vivienne

Study Skills Tutor

I am an art history major with a special interest in leadership studies and global citizenship. Through tutoring, being a note taker, and my new job at the Florence library, I love working with FSU students and being involved in campus resources.

Hometown: St. Petersburg, FL

To be successful in your courses at FSU, I recommend using a planner/calendar (paper or an app) to list all your deadlines and commitments to one place. Awareness of deadlines is paramount to academic success and helps create a less cluttered, less anxious headspace. Doing this will help to capitalize on free time whenever possible, whether you use the free time as guilt-free breaks or as a head start on your next paper/assignment.

To be successful in your courses at FSU, I highly recommend being engaged as much as possible in each and every class; ask questions and participate at every opportunity. Also, participating in study groups are something I strongly recommend because it’s a great way to meet new people and motivate yourself to study and stay up to date on readings or assignments.

Redgina

Study Skills Tutor

Greetings everyone! I am a third-year Public Health major, with double minors in Business and French. I hail from the heart of Southwest Florida, the city of Fort Myers. However, I was born on the beautiful island of Haiti.

I am a strong advocate for having a desire to learn, and as a Study Skills Tutor I hope to promote academic success by helping you all rise to higher prospects and instilling within you the confidence to be great!

To be successful in your courses at FSU, I recommend consistently engaging with the course material. This includes reading before class, engaging with the material during class, and then following up by reviewing your notes after class. It is important to go to office hours and gain deeper knowledge of the subject matter outside of the classroom. Prioritize your self-care as well, because when you are well rested and working in your optimal time the quality of your work will be better compared to if you are tired and drained.

Lauren

Study Skills Tutor

Hi all! I am a fourth-year student from Tampa, Florida and have a double major in Computational Biology and Criminology. I love to crochet, read, and spend time with my cat! Helping students to become their best selves is a passion of mine that I fulfill both in my role as a study skills tutor and as a resident assistant on campus.

A tip for success as an FSU student is to try out campus resources to find the ones that fit your needs. ACE is a great place for all things academic, but sometimes the reasons students fall behind in their classes aren’t necessarily academic, and that’s ok! FSU has many resources to assist you in a variety of ways. My words of advice: in order to be a good student, you have to take care of yourself as a person first.

Richard

Study Skills Tutor

Hi guys! I am a third-year Psychology major, with a minor in Child Development. I am originally from Potsdam, Germany but my parents and I immigrated to the U.S. when I was 10 and moved to Fort Myers Beach, FL. My role as a Study Skills Tutor entails promoting academic success with useful tips and tricks for excelling in and out of the classroom. I also advocate the importance of a healthy dose of curiosity by sharing about numerous incredible opportunities FSU has to offer.

Achieving success in your FSU courses requires developing effective time management strategies, adhering to a healthy daily routine, and tackling any behavioral challenges that may hinder your progress, all of which will enable you to take more control of your life and thus your academic career.

Emma

Study Skills Tutor

Hello, my name is Emma Zolecki! I am a second-year student studying Actuarial Science and Finance with minors in Business and Spanish. I was born and raised just outside of Chicago, but now reside in Bradenton, FL! In my free time, I love to cook, bake, and watch bad reality TV.

To be successful in your courses at FSU, I recommend finding a study method that works for you! I love having an online planner where I put aside blocks of time to “binge” study. But some people prefer a study method with breaks, such as the Pomodoro technique, or having a handwritten planner to organize their day. Finding what works for you is essential to reaching your academic goals!”

Caryn

Study Skills Tutor

Hi! My name is Caryn (Cuh-rin) and I am from Naples, Florida. I am currently studying Commercial Entrepreneurship. While being a tutor at ACE, I am also a Learning Assistant for MAC1105, as well as running my own jewelry business.  I love working with students and helping each person succeed in whatever it is they set their minds to. When I am not working with students, I love to be outside, make jewelry, or read a good book.

In order to be successful in whatever course comes your way, I recommend setting a plan to study for an exam two weeks before the test date. It's important to ask questions and have enough time to reach out for help if a concept doesn’t seem to make sense. And don’t forget, it's important to believe in yourself as well!

Chloe

Study Skills Tutor

Hey! My name is Chloe and I am from Miami, Florida. I’m a double major in Psychology and Family and Child Sciences. Outside of being an ACE tutor, I am a member of Best Buddies and RENEW (Recognizing Everyone’s Need for Emotional Wellness). I am passionate about fostering a positive and welcoming environment here at Florida State’s community. I love the beach, shopping, and doing anything creative.

A tip for succeeding in your courses at FSU is to manage your time well to prevent burnout. It is important to plan out your time well and avoid procrastinating for an exam until the last minute. I like to set reminders a couple days before upcoming exams. I recommend making your own study guides and testing yourself until you are at a level that you can teach someone the material. Always remember to take care of yourself!
