PASS for Faculty

Supplemental Instruction (SI), also known as PASS, is now offered at over 1,500 academic institutions around the world. Studies show that students who attend PASS sessions earn statistically higher final course grades than those students who do not attend.

PASS is not intended to create additional work for faculty. Upon selection of a PASS Leader, faculty members will be asked to support PASS by maintaining a working relationship with the student leader throughout the semester. We encourage faculty to meet with their PASS Leader for at least 10-15 minutes a week to discuss course content, upcoming exams, the progress of PASS sessions, and any other questions or concerns that may come up. This is not mandatory as we understand that faculty members might not be available. PASS Leaders are trained and monitored by the PASS coordinator to ensure that they can work independently. Faculty will also be asked to support PASS by allowing occasional in-class announcements and encouraging students to take advantage of PASS sessions. If you are interested in having PASS sessions available for your course, please contact Dr. Marisa Agama at (850) 644-1145 or magama@fsu.edu.
