Corrine "Caryn"
Study Skills Tutor
Hi! My name is Caryn (Kuh-rin) and I am from Naples, Florida. I am currently studying Commercial Entrepreneurship. While being a tutor at ACE, I am also a Learning Assistant for MAC1105, as well as running my own jewelry business. I love working with students and helping each person succeed in whatever it is they set their minds to. When I am not working with students, I love to be outside, make jewelry, or read a good book.
In order to be successful in whatever course comes your way, I recommend setting a plan to study for an exam two weeks before the test date. It's important to ask questions and have enough time to reach out for help if a concept doesn’t seem to make sense. And don’t forget, it's important to believe in yourself as well!

Ra'Miaya
Study Skills Tutor
Hi everyone! I’m a 4th year Behavioral Neuroscience major with a focus on global studies. Outside of ACE, some of my hobbies include gaming, anime/manga, cosplay, and traveling! I enjoy trying new things and think of myself as a food connoisseur, so I am always down to try a new recipe or ingredient whenever I’m cooking or baking. I do my best to advocate for diverse spaces on campus, especially those with niche interests.
To be successful in your courses at FSU, I recommend doing what you can to maximize your time. Many of us have other obligations outside of class such as work or extracurriculars, and it can be difficult to delegate the time you have towards studying. Ensuring you achieve your goals during your time here requires discipline, time-management, and planning which are some of the many skills those of us at ACE can help you with!

Emma
Study Skills Tutor
Hello, my name is Emma Zolecki! I am a second-year student studying Actuarial Science and Finance with minors in Business and Spanish. I was born and raised just outside of Chicago, but now reside in Bradenton, FL! In my free time, I love to cook, bake, and watch bad reality TV.
To be successful in your courses at FSU, I recommend finding a study method that works for you! I love having an online planner where I put aside blocks of time to “binge” study. But some people prefer a study method with breaks, such as the Pomodoro technique, or having a handwritten planner to organize their day. Finding what works for you is essential to reaching your academic goals!”

Chloe
Study Skills Tutor
Hey! My name is Chloe and I am from Miami, Florida. I’m a double major in Psychology and Family and Child Sciences. Outside of being an ACE tutor, I am a member of Best Buddies and RENEW (Recognizing Everyone’s Need for Emotional Wellness). I am passionate about fostering a positive and welcoming environment here at Florida State’s community. I love the beach, shopping, and doing anything creative.
A tip for succeeding in your courses at FSU is to manage your time well to prevent burnout. It is important to plan out your time well and avoid procrastinating for an exam until the last minute. I like to set reminders a couple days before upcoming exams. I recommend making your own study guides and testing yourself until you are at a level that you can teach someone the material. Always remember to take care of yourself!

Nicholas
Study Skills Tutor
I am a fourth-year student from Tampa, Florida double majoring in Psychology and Communication/Media Studies. Outside of classes I am a member of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law fraternity. In my free time I like to play pickleball and basketball.
To be successful in your classes at FSU, I recommend planning a specific time when you are going to do assignments and study for exams. Having a calendar with important dates and start dates for studying will prevent you from trying to cram close to an exam and feel overwhelmed. I like to make Quizlets with practice problems after class so once the exam is coming up I already have material to study. Lastly, if you feel like you don't understand something initiate getting help! Come to ACE for tutoring or study with classmates or learning assistants; it can be quick and really helpful!

Jennifer
Study Skills Tutor
Hi! My name is Jennifer, and I am from Spring Hill, FL. I am a junior majoring in Information Communication and Technology. I have a passion for User-Centered design and front-end development. Besides being a Study Skills Tutor for ACE, I am the Director of Chapter History for Alpha Gamma Delta, a Panhellenic sorority on campus, and a member of Doulos. I love working with students and giving them the confidence to obtain their career goals.
To be successful in your next course at FSU, I recommend you get good sleep and eat nutritious foods. Although it may seem like a cliche, keeping your body healthy will give your brain the power to accomplish your dreams. Not only that, but I recommend studying in chunks. Allowing yourself a whole week of studying will allow you to shorten the amount you have to study per day, decrease your anxiety, and help you retain the information in your long-term memory. If you have any questions don’t be afraid to reach out to ACE. It is our pleasure to help you!
