Campus Tutoring Cooperative

The Campus Tutoring Cooperative (CTC) strives to provide the training, resources, and collaboration necessary for high quality tutoring, while emphasizing a focus on student success. CTC is sensitive to the unique role each tutoring site plays within the larger institution, and simultaneously actively seeks ways to bring together tutoring efforts.

CTC is comprised of the following tutoring sites:

The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) Learning Studio provides both drop-in and appointment based tutoring. Peer tutoring is provided Sunday through Friday, open until 10pm most nights, with services available to all enrolled FSU students in a variety of subject areas, including psychology, nutrition, accounting, biology, chemistry, computer science, math, statistics, economics, modern languages, physics, and more. There are approximately 50 undergraduate tutors available for students, and we have drop-in math tutoring available any time that we are open. Tutoring in the ACE Learning Studio benefits not only those students currently experiencing academic challenges, but those who hope to maintain or enhance their academic standing as well. Located in the William Johnston Building on the ground floor.

The Learning District provides late-night, drop-in peer tutoring in Strozier Library and Dirac Library, Sundays through Wednesdays. The courses available for tutoring include: chemistry, physics, and math. More than 20 tutors work between both locations. Tutoring is funded by the libraries and free to all FSU students. The libraries also offer support for research, technology, and other aspects of understanding and using information.

The Student Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) tutorial program provides an individualized approach in assisting student athletes with course comprehension and study skills. Tutorial assistance is available for all academic course work and may be obtained by filling out a tutorial request form at the beginning of the semester, or as needed. Tutoring is available Monday-Thursday, 8am to 10pm, Friday 8am-5pm and Sunday 5pm-9pm, providing over 1200 tutoring appointments each week.

The Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (C.A.R.E.) provides preparation, orientation and academic support programming for students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education, with a particular focus on first-generation and economically disadvantaged students. Possible tutoring formats include one-on-one, group, email, and telephone tutoring. For students in academic difficulty, a specialized Academic Improvement Plan (AIP) is developed and specific tutoring appointments are scheduled for the student. Additional services provided by CARE include advising, financial aid advising & counseling, general academic counseling, and GRE, GMAT, LSAT preparation.
