Advising Centers |
Advising First: The Advising First program has approximately 40 professional academic advisors throughout the University's many academic units to assist undergraduate students with a variety of academic and non-academic issues. Center for Exploratory Students: Assists students who find it difficult to decide on a major. If this sounds like you, talk to the staff to start on the road to choosing a major that’s right for you. |

| ALEC provides low cost psycho-educational evaluations for college students and other adults who may be experiencing academic difficulties due to a possible Learning Disability or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Academic coaching also is offered for a fee. | |
| The Career Center can help students prepare resumes, practice interviewing, apply for jobs or graduate school, locate a job internship/coop, network with professionals in their field of study, or prepare for a career exposition. | |
SDS 3340: Introduction to Career Planning |
SDS 3340, Introduction to Career Development, provides students with an opportunity to learn and develop the necessary skills to engage in life/career planning. It is a variable credit course and can be taken for one, two, or three credit hours. |
| Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE) | CARE provides preparation, orientation, and academic support programming for students who are among the first in their family to attend college, and for those who otherwise may face unique challenges in college because of economic, cultural or educational circumstances. CARE implements programs to prepare certain middle and high school students for college as well as programming to help entering college students in their adjustment and academic success throughout their time in college. |

| The Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors works with students who are curious about research to assist them in exploring the opportunities available at FSU. Students can pursue a research project in any field under the guidance of a faculty mentor. | |
| Office that supervises freshman and sophomore academic progress including transfer credit, course drops and withdrawals, and issues requiring approval by the academic dean. It also houses the academic records of all basic division students. | |

REA1905: College Level Reading |
Provides individualized writing instruction available in two locations. It also offers online tutoring. Although walk-ins are accepted, it’s best to schedule an appointment ahead of time. If you are interested in working with a professional to improve your reading or writing skills, the Reading/Writing Center offers courses that can help. REA1905, ENC1905, and ENG5998 can be very useful for those semesters when you have courses with intensive reading or heavy writing assignments, or when you think you’ll just want some extra help. The courses ensure a student an appointment with a tutor every week. Each course can be taken as an elective for 1-3 credit hours. |
